Grace Armstrong joined the military because she felt she had no choice and when she left the military to join private security she also felt she had little choice but where she works Grace does have a choice. The job she took in France on behalf of her employer seemed simple enough, guard the children with her life, which did not work out as well as she hoped but the second job she took in France changed her life forever.
What French spy Armand Dubois needs is a damsel in distress who can faint at the drop of a hat but what he gets is a woman warrior. She is American, a trained fighter, and sticking such a woman in a carriage while a battle wages around her would be a grievous insult to everyone involved. What can Armand do but hand her a sword and make her one of them.
